This is because the Indian was a double consist, and was too long to fit in the refuge at
Lawson. As such, they needed to introduce single line working probably between Springwood
and Wentworth Falls to get trains around it. In the afternoon peak, there is a train
every 30 minutes on the down and every hour on the up. Springwood to Wentworth Falls is
approximately a 30 minute section. That means, that every second train would be delayed
30 minutes waiting for an opposing train. This would then delay the following train by 30
minutes. You can see why CityRail got a bit upset!

P.S. The Indian ran into Sydney today as a double consist.
