China and the North South Rail link

Media reports in the NT have stated that the Chinese Fourth
Engineering Construction Bureau of China's Ministry of
Railways wants to build the Alice to Darwin rail link.
They would be part of an Australian, Chinese and Hong Kong
consortium.
The overseas interests would be willing to spend $900 mil
dollars and construct the line within three years.
