Not so - B61 is lighter than it's sister units (why??). Dunno about
S300's weight though. Is double heading allowed? If not (which I think
would be the case) these authorisations would still be conditional on
the turntable being commissioned at Bairnsdale, as both these loco's
must be driven from the No. 1 end only. In any case, the condition of
the line must be as bad as many years ago when the N's weren't allowed.
Something I find funny in the MTP is that S, Z, N, J, CP etc vehicles
are not allowed to run "between Jolimont and Clifton Hill" - but
apparently can run to destinations beyond Clifton Hill! You haven't
been able to get to Clifton Hill via Royal Park for 40 years or so,
you'd reckon the MTP would have caught up by now!
As for letting a cat out of the bag, I can't say I've seen/heard
anything about the further privatisation of country services, so it's
still wait and see.
