Morrison Knudsen Australia (MKA) bought around 16 ZC class locos from
Tasrail, with the intention of rebuilding (and then leasing or selling).
Due (AFAIK) to financial problems, this plan wasn't completed. Around half
a dozen of the locos were rebuilt and sold to Indonesia or Malaysia, while
another 2 were rebuilt for BHP Whyalla (this work being carried out at
Whyalla).
The two BHP locos became the "MKA" class, and were numbered MKA1 and MKA6.
I don't have details on me of what happened to which ZC locos.
Part of the work on the BHP locos involved reshaping the front of the
locos, as happened to Tasrails ZR class (rebuilt ZC locos).
