Even Sydney buses (at the time some carried conductors) could display "PAY
AS YOU ENTER" on their number 2 and 3 boxes to indicate that the bus had no
conductor and you had to enter by the front door.

It is incredible that Melbourne Trams can't come up with a similar system.
