Melbourne suburban motor 15M.

Yesterday I was riding on a Hitachi train set in motor 15m, and i
witnessed something different in the carriage. Where the drivers
compartment is, there is usually a small space with 8 seats. In this
train this area was there, but was blocked off by a wall which had a
small window at dead center. This wall was positioned right up to the
fron passenger doors. Looking through the window, there appeared to be
the usual wall which went into the drivers compartment, but it had a
door leading to this small area. In this small area were 4 seats, (2
sets of 2 up against the wall which you find on all other hitachi sets)
and a bench against this unusual wall. I include a rough diagram below
of what i mean incase i have confused anyone ;) Can someone (possibly
from The Met) enlighten me as to what this is, i.e. was it standard on
all hitachi sets before i started travelling on them (as was the door at
the front of the drivers compartment which led outside).

Cheers. Mick.
