What was that train?

Whilst enormously enjoying the view from the railway vantage point
near North Melbourne station between 5:00pm and 6:00pm, amongst the 16
or so loco-hauled passenger trains that went past, both up and down,
one in particular grabbed my attention. It went past at about 5:44, an
N-class and 5 carriages (leading carriage was a BS compartment stock
in orange, the others in V/Line Pass) and all cariages were packed!

Only about another 4 trains were Sprinters. Nearly all appeared well
patronised. Not one loco-hauled hauled train was less than 4 cars,
some were six. all the Sprinters were doubles.

In as much as it is great to see so many loco-hauled pass's, I can't
help but think that any new articulated Sprinters would provide a
faster service than a loco-hauled pass.
