Noticed today that the SLR have intorduced a new fare structure, based
on two sections as opposed to three before (IMO, it is still one
section too many). Section one is from Central to Convention, and
section two from pyrmont bay to Wentworth Park. There is no indication
of a section overlap like in Melbourne, which represents poor value
for travel between Convention and Wentorth park!!

The fares for the sections have now changed as well. A full single
from section one to 2 now costs $3.00 (I didn't see the new return
fare), that fare is up from $2.80. However the new one section fare is
only $2.00, which is a reduction and IMO is now GREAT value. Obviously
the SLR people want more central Darling Harbour work.

As part of the change new signage has been installed at stations and
on the LRV's. Each sign has a conditions of travel speal on it. Also
they are installing new "How to buy a ticket" signs, replacing the
ones that were stuck to the side of the equipment cabinets at the
stops. Also on the LRV's new signs are installed above the doors, half
have the new route map, and the other half the conditions of travel.
On the LRV I traveled today was a ticket inspector, who appeared to be
instructing two other new inspectors!!

The ticket machines have had their software revised, and IMO the new
system is much more user freindy then before. Now when asked for the
destination section, customers are given the section name and also the
stations in that section. The screen layout is less cluttered. At
central it appears as if they are installing a new machine near the
equipment cabinet, which may explain why John Street Square has had
the city side TVM removed.

It is going to be interesting to see if with the opening of Star
City tommorow if SLR will start introducing new short work services,
using the turn back between Casino and John Street Sqr.

PS. Also noticed that the LRV's now have the last number of their
running number on the front windscreen.
