Its normally not permitted to reverse over an axle counter as you would expect
the count obtained would be incorrect.
In the case of the Unanderra- Moss Vale line which uses then quite
extensively,the counters are placed between the Arrival Homes and the opposite
direction departure homes , so you would be reversing thru a Red over Red home
anyway.
On CTC track circuited single lines , set back movements are also normally
prohibited for similar reasons , the directional state of the line is lost ,if
you reverse back far enough.
I dont know what the procedure is for resetting axle counters , but Id be
surprised if the Train Controller couldnt do it remotely.
