I have also heard of the "right day, right time, wrong month" story, but
can't
vouch for it's authenticity. (I heard it on a channel 7 doco about 10
years ago)
As for "I wasn't in this condition when I joined the train", well i think
just about
every rail line from Cairns to Coolgardie has claimed that one!!!
