Continuation of the mainline electrification to Cairns was always
the grand plan but they ran out of money. QR probably already have
detail design to get electrics into Townsville at least.
With the large number of diesels just purchased, I think it would be
unlikely to proceed for a while yet. 2800s are being seen under the
wires even.
