Port Melbourne Light Rail extension in Melbourne

Dear all,

Just noticed the other day that there appears to be some work going on at
the Port Melbourne terminus of the light rail line. There is a new level
crossing on the down-side of the existing terminus (i.e between the
terminus and the erstwhile station). It looks like the track is being
extended through the station platform, but at a low level, meaning that the
trams will not be able to stop there. But, it looks like the extension
might finish just past the station, as there is a new lot of concrete
kerbing being laid just past there for the road, and there is no sign of
any provision for track through it. Also, it looks like the extension is
only single track, but they may be moving the crossover by a few metres.

Does anyone have any information about how far the extension is going, and
the possible layout?

Regards,

Mike Alexander
