DL's

I'm curious why so many people rave about the DL's. Did they ever actually
work them? NR drivers have banned them as leading units, their terrible cab
layout being the main cause. They make terrific remote units, as they are
gutsy, and have good brakes, but that's about it.
Spending a shift with a fridge in your back, a desktop in your kneecaps, and
sitting bolt upright isn't much fun. The desktops are even cleverly sloped
so you can't put a meal on them. We wonder how they got past cab committees.
Did AN have cab committees?
