Maurie for yours and everyone elses information the NR class locos
have a feature called variable horsepower efectively this is a notch
limiting device that can be set to notch six at 2850 HP or notch seven
at 3250 HP from memory there is no doubt in my mind the will be
limited to notch six on the overland .
also someone said why not use a BL the reason for that is that all the
BL's have had the ASW equipment removed as such will never lead in
victoria again "Thak goodness for that"!!!
What you may well see is as tha National rail has been allocated the
AN's and EL's that the well may be pressed into passenger services.
