About 6.10 this morning (Wednesday 28 May 97), G513 derailed at the
GEB siding between Brooklyn and Sunshine.

The train was moving along no 2 road towards Brooklyn. The loco
passed over a set of points set to normal, but the first qrain wagon
caught the points and took the reverse route; the weight of the train
derailed the loco, the loco slewing so that that it came to rest with
the front wheels of the leading bogie jammed up against the main
Sunshine - Brooklyn line (one running track slightly kinked) and the
rear of the loco came to rest over the (now torn up) tracks of no 2
road. Only one wagon derailed.

No one was injured.

Workers on the site told me that stones had been found jammed between
the point blades.
