Which is exactly what happened in practical terms.

Contractors often do say to a company, "give me a <insert amount here>
extra because you provided misleading information during contract
negotiations which caused me to incur additional expense, which I
would have built into my bid if you hadn't mislead me." Courts around
the world have been fairly consistent in finding for contractors in
these circumstances.

The real world of contracts isn't anywhere near as simplistic as you
make out, which indicates fairly clearly that your experience of it is
severely limited.
