A short list of 12 companies has been produced from the 50 expressions
of interest in AN.
According to many media reports, bidders include:
WCR, TNT, Pasminco, Brambles, Toll Holdings, Winsconsin Central, CGEA
Transport of France, Great Southern Railway (consortium including
Macquarie Bank, Great Canadian Rail Tour Co. and Goninan's), National
Express Group (UK) and Virgin Rail Group (UK). Detailed bids are to be
submitted in approx 1 month (mid June), with sale to be completed by
June 30. Expected price range is $50-70 million.
