The Saturday service ex Melbourne on 3rd May was 800 tons which made
for very heavy going on the climb through Petwood on the eastern side
of the Mt Lofty Ranges due to wet rails.

It overtook a struggling NR Steel train there. (This train was running
early and even though it stopped at Petwood it arrived Islington on
time)
