Its interesting that in the road case , ie providing a uniform set of rules, &
standards across State Borders for the Road Freight industry was not without an
enormous amount of resistance by all the States,Victoria especially.
It was only that the Federal Govt threatened to withdraw all Federal Funding
for the National Highway System thats the States came into line, and
reluctantly agreed.
State parochialism is still mighty alive and kicking.
Rail is the last transport area where the States think that they can keep
playing their silly games.
