X31 is back in traffic

Hi,

it seems reports that X31 would be scrapped were premature, for it
hauled the 17:00 up pass out of Geelong tonight (Monday 2/6 - my train
home!). Consist X31 (long end leading) - FN6....trouble here is that
FN6 is HEP only, the only D/A on board is on the BN car, hence the train
had lights, but no air-con except for the BN due to the non-HEP loco -
not good in the freezing weather!

Sounds like the X has been re-fitted with a 567 series motor (is it the
motor from S310??)....wasn't going all that well, losing some 7 minutes
between Geelong and Werribee, but running well north of Werribee and
losing no further time. It was gleaming in new paint (complete with
V/Line Freight on the side), with it's staff exchangers removed (but
cavity remaining).

Cheers,
Craig.
