Electrol's function was to distribute power to the suburban system. They
would monitor power demands for each section and take action if one
substation was not operating properly, that sort of thing. They also reset
substations when one was pulled.
Metrol, contains all of the "train controllers" (old term) for the
suburban area plus the "signalmen" for the area around Flinders St and
wherever else Metrol has now. I pretty sure the function of Nth Melb and
Sth Kensington were transferred to them and doubtless others by now,
Clifton Hill? Caulfield?
