Alberga, Coonatto and Nilpena were built by the then SAR in 1915 for service on
the Northern Division as it was then known. They worked mainly the broken hill
express, and were the largest and most luxurious coaches on the skinny gauge

They are timber bodied vehicles of corridor type design, each of which slept 18
passengers. In day use they could handle around 40 passengers each. They had a
small lounge area at one end.

Nilpena has been used, appraently, for member accomodation at Quorn for many
years, whilst Alberga and Coonatto saw limited service ax PL. They lack air
braking and have had some internal modifications made. Both are understood to be
in a reasonable condition.

Not sure on that one. I know that there were still a few vehicles stuck in Pirie
Car Barn but am unaware of the contents.
