On the 30-6-1981 NSU's 59 & 64 arrived at MacDonnell
Siding South of Alice Springs with the first load of
recovered rails from the abandoned Central Australian
Narrow Gauge.

The Train was operated by the Western Australian firm
of Roberts Construction who won the contract on behalf
of the Queensland Sugar Producers Association who had
successfully bid for the old CAR mainline from
Oodnadatta SA to Ewaninga NT.

The next time you visit a Queensland Sugar Cane Railway
(Tramway) look for 60 pound rail branded as follows;
AS BHP Co Ltd 1928 60 Lbs.

You can bet the Old Legendary Ghan trod them.

Cheers
