G'day.

134s is only supposed to be on hire from the Sydney Tramway Museum for
about ten days or so from 3/7 when it left Loftus. Note that the car
is fitted with a (Japanese) pantograph and has resitances on the roof
to knock the voltage down from 750 to a more acceptable 600v DC. The
car normally works weekdays only on the section between Haymarket and
the Capitol theatre and only goes around Sydney Station colennade when
required to switch tracks. I understand that 134s is on hire to the
contractors and NOT SLR as the line has not been handed over (or, from
what I hear, passed as yet by DoT). For this reason, driver training
of SLR staff has not commenced, and so the opening has been put back
to August. I also hear that it is not possible to operate bogie
heritage stock over the line, even if fitted with pantos and
resistances, since some of the masts for the overhead are too close to
the track. Of course, SLR could relocate the masts !!!
Incidentally, four SLR vehicles are now in Sydney, with 2104 arriving
on Sunday 29/6.
