I don't know of any stations outside of capital city metro areas with more
than 6 platforms at the present time. However, Kalgoorlie in WA had 6
platforms until the standard gauge went through in the 60s. The station
consisted of one long platform with intermediate crossovers, a dock at the
Perth end and 3 docks at the Parkeston end, two of which were standard gauge
for the Trans. The long main platform was counted as two. I don't know when
the last time all platforms would have been used, but was probably before the
1st world war. Currently, Kalgoorlie has four platforms. The main platform is
used for the Indian Pacific. The dock at the Perth end is used for the
Prospector railcars. The two CR docks at the Parkeston end are still
available for use but do not appear to have been used for some time.
