About 1987(?), as part of the Hurstville Great Train Festival, they ran
an XPT to Cronulla and back (I've got a shot going through Kirrawee
somewhere). On the same weekend (I think) I caught the XPT from
Hurstville to Mortdale and return as they needed to move it from one
platform to another at Hurstville and announced a (short) free trip to
anyone who wanted to go. This might also count as the greatest number of
people to fit on one XPT at once as it was absolutely packed! I never
got any further than the vestibule!
