DLs do occasionally run into Melb as trailing units. ELs are also
accredited for operation in Vic but I don't think any have yet.

Until now supply of locos in NSW has not been too big a problem with 422,
80, 81, 82, C, BL and G classes being available. Now a lot of these are
going back they are being replaced by NRs. Training extra crews for loco
classes that might not be available to NRC in a short while is not very
economic, beside that NRC need all the green locos they have for the
nullabor and Alice lines as the number of locos has been reduced by
accidents lately.

The AN brakeblock problem was solved, I think by adding an extra brake
block to the centre axle of each bogie. Can anyone confirm this ?

NRs also have a similar problem in the Adelaide Hills. Because of this the
load for a NR over the hills is 1200 tonnes if in a mixed consist but only
950 if in a pure ( NR only) set. A solution is under investigation.
