don't you realize that Victorian Engine men up to the Grand Prix
weekend have not been on strike for years and years, in fact I cant
remember going out since the late 80's.
Despite Her Kennett and Dr. Goebells..uh! Stockdale
attempts to sell the lies to the Victorian Public and this Group. We
have copped it sweet for a long time...
1......They took the Van off the trains, sacked the Fireman/Observer and
put the Guard up the front....about ten of these went on to drive, the
rest took packages and left us without anyone to replace us when we
finally retire.
2.......They then took the observer off the Engine and sent us all over
the State Driver/Only.. To hell with Safety...think dollars...
3........They then tried to outlaw the Union and refused to allow the
Paymaster to deduct the Union Dues, hoping that the union would die...
4........They then extended the time and distance we could drive, i.e.
8.0 hours became 10.0 or in an emergency 12.0
and 317 km to Albury became 617 km i.e. Albury-Sp.St.-Wodonga
5........'They then took half of our Public Holidays, and many other
conditions that I cant even think of here now
How many days strike whilst they did all this.......3.....Yes 3 but they
were 4 hour PAID......PAID... stop work meetings that
were timed to cause as little disruption as we could manage.
Now Dr. Goebells wants to give us a 6% pay rise....HA! HA!....[ In
reality this is an 8% loss in pay] From me to you Stockdale?Goebells
you can ram it up your arse....I / We don't want it.....You see they
fail to tell you that they want us to give up our award conditions [for
God's sake Have we any conditions left to give up?......
Now they want us to forgo a weeks annual leave......
work 12 hours
run driver only trains 24 hours a day [now limited to day shift to avoid
a man alone during the horror hours midnight to dawn
when the best of us find it hard to stay awake]
work split shifts i.e. start at 4.00 am work 4 hrs come back at 3.00 and
work another 4 or 5 hrs.
work Part time.. No wheat .. OK close the Depot down No Pay...
They want you to trust your lives to retired drivers and those
superannuated out because of illness[or incompetence]
who will run you up and down our rails, if they decide not to go up
Queensland next Summer. Train Drivers are responsible People! I have
lived and worked with them for 22 years. We all look forward to
retirement, as it will normalize my life, allow me to feel normal, have
a beer with my mates, do ordinary things that we cant do now... Guess
what... no social life now... like the Cops we socialize with our own,
and I can understand the retired few wanting to come back and work for
Wally Rail and other's. But they will be used also...they will be the
thin edge of the wedge, when we have to lower our conditions and wages
to keep our jobs because of this unfair situation, they will be dumped
without ceremony, and very guilty cont. when they realize how they
destroyed our Profession
addenda: Why did Her Kennett payout SEC, Gas and Fuel, Council Workers
etc. then Refuse any redundancy to Railway Workers??
Why does he grant teachers, coppers, firemen and
ambulance workers 10% payrises with out conditions!
And there is more! I didn't have time to contact the Union Office but I
will post the EBA if their is enough interest.
Get off your box sonny and think about whether there will be a single
rail line left in this country if the filthy rich RIGHT
can preach their lies and convert the poor old Joe Public as easy as it
converted you.
Come on everyone! The Government represents YOU.
Not the other way round.
Anyone standing outside all this would think that we were here for the
benifit of the government!
