This train has only been available for charter operation in recent years.
The last reported charter operation was on 18 June 1996. I visited the
mill in late July 1996 and was advised that this was probably be the last
run of steam locomotive NELSON on the Mulgrave system. It seems that the
management of sugar mills are again primarily concerned with making sugar
(and therefore running sugar trains) after a brief flirtation with
tourism during the sugar slump of the 1980s.
