One of the reasons the road lobby is so successful (and even exists) is due
to the fact they are in private enterprise. They clearly have something to
gain from lobbying successfully(ie better roads=more profit). The rail
lobby has been weak and or non existant due to not wanting to upset the
political masters (ie status quo = job security).

Hopefully with privitaisation this might change as the new owners
motivations should be quite different. They want to be successful. The
gov't should want their sale program to be successful. Lobbying for funds
to the national railway should increase.

Just a different perspective.

Has'nt Double Stack to/from Parkes to the west just started?
