Government approval has been granted by the ACT, NSW and
Commonwealth Government for a high speed line between Sydney and
Canberra. At this stage the governemts are enquiring into the best
technology to use, the contenders are the TGV, a Magnalev and a couple
of high speed tilt trains. IMO the TGV looks the best of the
conventional technology trains.

The only line in Australia that could be consider high speed is the
one from Brisbane to Rockhampton where the QLD Government is in the
process of having a few tilt trains built to operate over the route.
The are meant to be ready to run early next year.
