G'day.

NRR runs freitght trains frm Grafton to Murwilumbah on an "As
required" basis, usually one or twice a week. Loading is usually
cement for Old Casino and flyash to Murwillumbah. Departure from
Grafton is in the predawn hours, with an arival at Murwillumbah around
0800 or so. Shunting is quite quick and the return trip commences
within a half hour or so, in order that the train can be back at
Grafton and the crew off duty within the 12 hour period. I
understand that the last train for the year operated on Friday 19/12
and will not resume until the new year.

NRR anticipates increased loadings in the new year as it finalises
deals with several new freitght forwarders.

All four 421 are now accredited to operate. Two are normally used
back-to-back on each trip.

Details of NRR workings have appeared in Railway Digest, together with
some excellent trackside photos. A report has also been included in
THE RAILWAY NEWS, magazine of the NSW SRCA, as dertailed on our web
page <http://www.ozemail.com.au/~nswsrca>
