Flinders St pfm 1 isn't even the longest in Australia: it is beaten by
Perth Terminal.
Guiness rail records doesn't mention it on page 153; I can't take the time
to check on line, but I suspect that FSt is 5th:
Chicago State St 1066 m
Khargpur, India 833 m
Perth, WA 762 m
Sonepur, India 736 m
***AFAIK: F St is in this spot.
Bulawayo, Zimbabwe 702 m
Under Smithplan for compacting Spencer St into Flinders St (apparently
abandoned by PTC), pfm 1 would have been the sg one. It could hold a
double-length IP.
