You're absolutely ansettly right James. Gummint (as Martin Ferguson would
say) wouldn't have funded it, HIH or no HIH. Funds had to come from the
Private Sector, and to be attractive to the private sector there had to be
some tax relief. I was just alluding to how far that amount of money could
go.   Though the Gummint  used to guarantee the purchase of Ansett aircraft
in the bad old days of the two airline policy, old Bob Menzies and Uncle
Reginald had a very cosy arrangement.  When TAA wanted new jet aircraft they
couldn't get them because Uncle Reg wanted to hang onto his clapped out
Electras for longer.

There's now a story about the TGV's long run on the BBC website, though the
picture at the top may be wrong, I thought it would have been a TGV
Atlantique rather than the original model shown in the picture.
