The State Government has dumped plans to build a rail line to Bondi
Beach and instead will pour more than $86 million into fixing peak-hour
problems on CityRail's Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra lines. The Minister
for Transport, Mr Scully, revealed last night that he had rejected an
amended proposal by the Bondi Beach Railway Company which would have
cost $247million, including $94million from taxpayers.
