2: GO!ZILLA PRODUCT NEWS: GO!ZILLA V4.0 SKINS NEEDED!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
We continue to approach the final launch of Go!Zilla v4.0. The first beta version will be sent to our beta testers later this week, and we hope to have a final release done over the next several weeks.

One of the new features in Go!Zilla v4.0 is a completely skinable interface. And when we say completely, we really mean it! You can change the size, shape, and layout of each window. Hide features, show features, arrange them however you want. It's a blank canvas on which skin creators can work!

Go!Zilla v4.0 will ship with at least two skins, an entirely new interface designed specifically for 4.0, and a 'Classic Skin' to make Go!Zilla look like Go!Zilla Classic/Go!Zilla v3.5.

But we need your help! We'd like to have more than these 2 skins when we release--if you enjoy making skins or have the urge to try, please drop us an email to info@gozilla.com and let us know! Making a skin is as easy as making a webpage, so if you know basic HTML and graphic skills, then you're set to make Go!Zilla look EXACTLY like you always wanted. We'll distribute the best skins right from the Go!Zilla website, where millions of other Go!Zilla users can enjoy the fruits of your work!

Again, if you're interested in making a skin, please email info@gozilla.com and let us know!

3: TECHNOLOGY UNLEASHED: NAPSTER TAKES THE PLUNGE
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Through all the fanfare, lawsuits, record labels, independent artists, news reports, user riots, and business model changes, Napster still survives.

But the old gray mare just ain’t what she used to be.

Reports have stated that the number of songs available on Napster are down 80% from just this past March when Napster was ordered by the courts to use filtering software to block copyrighted material. And the numbers are sure to keep dropping, as the filtering software continues to improve to counteract users attempts to trick it by misnaming songs, artists, and album titles.

But surprisingly, the number of Napster users does remain strong. Over 1 million simultaneous users were reported in April, although that is still down from its previous highs.

Can Napster really hope to survive with these kinds of limitations? It’s hard to imagine. Users can turn to competing systems like Gnutella to get their music fix, and it’s only a matter of time before Napster’s filters will catch crafty song titles like ‘Brit Knee Spears – Oops I did FILTERINGSUCKS it again.mp3’.

Hank Barry, Napster’s CEO, said this: ‘Napster's recent research continues to show that these people are the music industry's best customers: 40% of Napster users report that they have purchased 10 or more CDs over the past 6 months. Napster will continue to support the Napster user community, comply with the court's injunction and build a membership-based service that makes payments to artists, songwriters and other rights holders.’

But can Napster really survive, partner with the music industry, and keep its users happy? Only time will tell, but right now, things don’t look so bright.

4: FUN AND GAMES: CIVILIZATION III POISED TO CONQUER THE WORLD
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The name Sid Meier will forever be held in the highest regard in the computer gaming community. Mr. Meier has produced some of the most popular, fun, and replayable games of all time: Pirates!, Railroad Tycoon, and Civilization, just to name a few.

Among his games, nothing tops the Civilization series (Civ 1, Civ 2, and Alpha Centauri) among the hearts of his fans. Civilization has topped many a list of the best games of all time.

Now, Sid Meier and Firaxis are moving down a path that few thought were possible – improving on what is arguably the best game of all time.

Civilization III is currently underdevelopment, and players are holding their breath for this latest installment in the popular series. Screenshots are already making their way through the fan community, and sites like CivFanatics.com are bursting at the seams with anticipation built further by each one.

One of the most anticipated improvements is a plethora of diplomacy possibilities. Trade money for technology, charge per turn for peace agreements, impose trade embargos, or sign mutual protection pacts, just to name a few of the possibilities.

Improved combat, unit capabilities, and zone of control rules are there too. All in all, it sounds like a winner in the making, and with Sid Meier at the helm, it’s hard to imagine anything less than perfection.
