Some transport company staff have them. A tram driver friend of mine showed
me his; it's a bit like one of those card keys that big corporations use to
let staff access their buildings.

If there's any development still going on, I suspect it's to make them
cheaper to manufacture, since others here have said they cost something like
$30 each to make.
