Might be the case now, but trains in red rattler days used to regularly
descend from the bridge at full pelt, often twice that speed.  Quite a
dangerous practice given that it was all downhill to Wynyard.  I can
remember on one occasion gliding silently down from the bridge with the
rails wet and wheels locked, only when inside the tunnel did the brakes
start to take effect.
