Because you charge what the market will bear, it is a basic rule of a
capitalist society.

If someone goes to the Airport they are normally faced with parking charges
(free time is unheard of) ranging from $5 for half an hour upwards. Compare
this to shopping centres where the first three hours will be free and you
can see what the difference is.

Catching the train to Sydney Airport to see some one off, despite the
station usage charges, is still cheaper than driving there and paying for
two hour of parking.
