Chatswood was probably the least used "turnback" station out of Gordon and Lindfield
on the North Shore line, although 2-3 trains did use the turnback facility in the
late '80s and early '90s timetables. One train that comes to mind was a 8:08am
service, always run by a red ratter M set.

How much money was wasted getting backhoes, men, spoil trains and overhead wiring
removed, just to get rid of 150 metres of track?

For all their efforts, there is now a big gaping hole that collects rainwater and
another commuter eyesore.
