Re: [WA] Leisure Rail WA woos tourism operators in South West.

A story in the Sunday Times (25th March) gives some further details on
Leisure Rail's plans.

Salient points:

Capital cost now $7.75 million. Earliest operational date now May
2002. [Like all good projects it is growing in budget and slipping in
schedule!]

70% of funds raised so far with Chicago Freight Car Leasing Australia
as the principal financier. CFCLA are major backers of the Barossa
Wine Train in South Australia. Local investment company Castels
Limited has committed to contribute the balance by June.

Coaches will be modelled on the elegant 1950's European & North
American "streamliners".

Perth - Albany will cost $99 (including gourmet meals) and take 9
hours and 25 minutes. [I presume that is one-way.]

Australian Railroad Group is quoted as having had preliminary
discussions, but has made no committment with respect to timetables or
track access.
