But is there any need to.??
It would be far cheaper to simply build a triangle at Wolseley.
There is no way that there would be sufficient freight from Mt Gambier
to warrant effectivley building or reguaging two lines to the same
place.
Unless there is a significant volume (1 million tonnes PA or more )
,that is required to go from Mt Gambier to Portland then this line
isnt needed ar all.

If the SA Govt fails to get Wolseley to Mt G re opened then it does
make sense to try and re guage Heywood to Mt Gambier.
