The line was later extended to Port Victor (later named Victor Harbo[u]r)
with the railway extended across the causeway to jetties on Granite Island.

According to the late Kym Bird's book "South Coast Limited" (published by
ARHS SA Division), the causeway could not take the weight of locomotives and
horses were used to move freight wagons between the Victor Harbour station
and the jetties on granite island.

The same book also includes a photo of a double-decker horse-drawn tram used
for taking passengers across the causeway to Granite Island.

Arthur.
