Some colleagues of mine were on a northbound Shore train and were
advised to alight and catch a bus when the train reached Wynyard.

When the train eventually crawled into Wynyard, the guard would not
open the doors as there was already a large crowd on the platform who
wanted to board the train.... so they had no choice but to say,
standing, on the train a suffer an agonising 30 minute stop/start
journey across the bridge to North Sydney.

As they pointed out, they could have walked from Wynyard quicker than
that if they had been allowed the choice.
