Train catches fire near Lake Macquarie

Train catches fire near Lake Macquarie
A passenger train caught fire today near a station in rural New South Wales,
the Rural Fire Service (RFS) said.

The fire broke out under the engine of the CountryLink train just 500 metres
from Awaba station, near Lake Macquarie, a RFS spokesman said.

Passengers in the first carriage were moved to the end of the train while
firefighters extinguished the blaze, he said.

There were no injuries.

A possible cause of the blaze was oil leaking onto the brakes, the spokesman
said.
