Spotted Sunday 14 JAN 01 in Mundubbera, inland from Bundaberg QLD.
C17 #253 is in the park in town. It has its own rails encased in
concrete and a shed roof for weather protection.
There is no number painted on it. The number 253 is stamped on various
parts of the running gear and #253 is the road number listed in Leon
Oberg's 1975 book. The loco appears to be in reasonable external
condition.
A single RM2000 class rail motor was spotted in a Mundubbera scrap
metal yard on the road into town from the highway turnoff. No number
was seen despite a check of the front and both sides. The law of
tresspass prevented a really close inspection.
Several louvre vans were scattered around the RM 2000 unit. Some were
bogie QLX types while others were of the MALY 4 wheel type. Some tank
wagons were also in the scrap metal yard.
A former sugar mill steam tank loco was spotted in Dalby, west of
Toowoomba, Monday 15 JAN 01. It was in the machinery museum on the
western end of town. I did not have a very good view from the road so
I don't have the wheel arrangement.
Cheers
