This presents a great opportunity for the anomalous organisational
structure to be fixed.
The Endeavours and remaining 620/720s should be maintained and operated by
Countrylink, but CityRail fares should still apply and services should
remain unbooked. Compare this with V/Line operating the Sunbury, Melton
and Stony Point services.
Countrylink economy class fares are higher than CityRail fares where
services overlap. CityRail tickets should be available for travel in
economy class on Countrylink services - subject to seat availability and
possibly paying a nominal (say $2) booking fee.
