Re: (NSW) derailments



Somewhere from the recesses of my mind I thought there was once a very low
speed derailment at either the emergency crossover at Museum or the other
crossover at Wynyard-lower (on the City Circle) - although on reflection I'm
beginning to think it was actually the City Circle Outer points (trailing) at
St James..  I also thought this incident was the reason (last straw?) for the
removal of these trailing crossovers and also the terminating facilities at St
James (alas those AL services that could have terminated at St James rather
than running to Ashfield or terminating at Central).

I also remember reading that there has never been a collision between 2 trains
on the City Railway - substantiation of the good signal design and train
operation on this busy section.
