Brisbane city councillors are shunning buses and trains – after doubling
parking fines to try to force commuters on to public transport.
Councillors take government cars to ward offices and City Hall. A public
transport lobby group said it was hypocrisy for council to provide cars
and free parking for employees and councillors, while telling other city
workers to use buses, trains or ferries.
