Dunno if you are able to travel or not, and I know it doesn't qualify as
"any good bookshop" but the ARHS has an excellent book on the rail system in
NSW - it includes maps, track diagrams, information on rolling stock and
locomotives, and has all sorts of statistics in it.

Their shop is near Redfern station.
